    "Summertime, and the livin's easy..." While we love the song and summer, we wouldn't call it easy, especially if you need to find childcare while the kids are out of school. Finding 8+ weeks of care can be daunting, so we've rounded up options for Golden Isles summer camps and Vacation Bible Schools (VBS).

     

    St. Simons Island Summer Camps

    Frederica Academy

    May 28-July 26

    Ages 3-rising 5th graders

    The summer camps at Frederica Academy (FA) are very popular and fill up fast. If you want your child to attend summer camp at FA, you’ll need to sign up quickly once registration opens.

    Their signature-themed Little Knights (ages 3-4) and exploratory Camp Knights (rising kindergarteners through 5th graders) programs run eight consecutive weeks to offer a full summer of hands-on experiences and field trips. 

    Some of their notable specialty camps include cheerleading, football, fun fashionista camp, get crafty, advanced & beginner golf, kayak adventures, Pokémon camp, princess camp, baseball, robotics, and more! 

    • Registration opens on Sunday, January 7th for current FA families, and on Sunday, January 15th to the general public.
    • Anyone registering can use the code EARLY for 10% off until 2/15/2024.
    • You register and pay by the week. Payment is required in full when you register.

    Camp Connect

    5-day overnight camps.

    Rising 4th graders-rising 12th graders.

    Camp Connect is put on by the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church at Epworth by the Sea. Overnight camp for kids entering 4th grade through 12th grade. Days are filled with outdoor activities like camp-wide games, boat rides, seining, fishing, bike riding, art, Bible study, canoeing/kayaking, and beach time. Nightly fun competitions bring everyone together, and each evening closes with a worship service. Woven throughout these activities is a greater purpose - sharing Christ's love with every camper.

    Coastal Outdoor Adventures Camp

    1, 2, and 3-day camps

    6-14 years old

    What began as just a few kids camps in the summer of 2010 has developed into a variety of 1, 2, and 3-day camps offered year-round for children 6-14 years old. Your child will have a great time learning about our marine environment while being active in the outdoors! They offer a 10% sibling discount to parents registering more than one child in a camp.     A Foot Above Soccer Camp

    May 28th - 31st
    June 3rd - 6th

    4 -14 years old

    Glynn Academy Lady Terrors head soccer coach Tom Lemmon and A Foot-Above Soccer Academy camps are for the player who wants to improve his or her dribbling ball skills, shooting, defending, and goalkeeping while having fun. The camp is geared toward players who want to work hard and improve every aspect of their game. Each camper will be appropriately placed in age and skill level to challenge the players in a fun, supportive environment. The summer camps will involve training, tactics, and small-sided/full-sided games to develop a complete player.

    Glynn Visual Arts

    Week-long camps offered throughout the summer

    Ages 7+ (each camp has a different age range)

    Glynn Visual Arts holds weekly camps during the summer that let kids explore their creativity. Each camp runs Monday through Friday and is held at different times for different ages. Sessions include hand puppets, illustration, pottery, jewelry, and sewing and weaving.

    Southern Strut Dance Center

    Camp options for ages 3+

    Southern Strut will hold a few different camps and workshops this summer:

    • Tiny Tot Camp: 4-day camps for ages 3+.
    • Summer Workshops:  5 different workshops throughout the summer so that those dancing feet never have to take a break. Ages 6-13+.
    • Camp Create: A week filled with teachings from different artists and their art forms including visual arts, photography, cinematography, fashion design, music, choreography, and movement. Ages 13+.

    Golden Isles Riding Academy

    Ages 6+

    9am - 4pm

    Horseback Riding Camp

    Each camper is assigned his or her “own” horse for the day and is taught horse safety and how to groom, lead, saddle, and bridle their horse in addition to riding. Campers enjoy two riding sessions each day along with other horse skills such as braiding, clipping, applying leg bandages, and other care items. The camp's central focus is riding and improving their horsemanship skills, but the fun is always at the top of the agenda, including horse-related games, crafts, and other activities.

    • Ages 6+
    • Camp hours are from 9 am-4 pm. Early drop-off and late pickup hours are available (8 am-5 pm) for an additional $10 each.
    • Pricing: $425 per camper / Day Camps: $95 per camper

    Wesley Academy of Early Learning (WAEL) Summer Camp

    Ages Pre-K through 3rd grade.

    Full-time through June and July.

     

    This is a great camp for children in Pre-K through 3rd grade. Fun weekly themes, field trips, water play, arts and crafts, dance parties, culinary fun, and more!

    Sea Palms Golf & Tennis Camp

    Camps are open to members and guests of members only.

    Kick off summer with children's tennis, golf, and art summer camps at The Club at Sea Palms. Camps are open to members and guests of members only.

    Tennis & Golf Combo Camp:

    • Ages 7-14
    • Tennis: Monday, June 3rd - Tuesday, June 4th, 10 am - 12 pm.
    • Golf: Wednesday, June 5 - Thursday, June 6th, 10 am - 12 pm.
    • $200 for members and $250 for non-members.

    Tennis Camp:

    • Ages 5-13
    • Limited to 12 children maximum.
    • Monday, July 1st - Wednesday, July 3rd, 9-11 am.
    • Monday, July 15th - Wednesday, July 17th, 9 -11 am.
    • $90 for members and $110 for non-members.

    Pottery and Art Camp:

    • Ages 8-12
    • Monday, June 10 - Friday, June 14th, from 10 am - 1 pm.
    • $190 per child, including all art supplies.
    • Classes take place at Glynn Visual Arts.

    Wesley Music Academy Camp

    Children, rising first grade through rising sixth, join us for this summer's Wesley Music Academy Camp! Children will develop performance skills in singing, choreography, and drama and build confidence through successful, meaningful, Christ-centered music creation.

    • Children will receive a morning snack and lunch each day.
    • The camp will end with a performance followed by a lunch.
    • Registration fee of $25 to cover t-shirt, music, and lunch.

    Stables at Frederica Camp

    Monday through Thursday

    1-4pm

    The Stables at Frederica hosts several weeks of half-day camps during the summer months. Campers are inspired and challenged during their session through riding lessons, art projects, and ground and stables lessons. Students participate in mounted riding instruction, grounded horsemanship lessons, as well as creative sessions and games.

    Most camp weeks are for rising 3rd-8th graders, with two weeks set aside for rising 1st-2nd graders. $400/participant.

    St. Simons Island Vacation Bible Schools

    Launch kids on a cosmic quest where they’ll have a blast shining Jesus’ light to the world. Stellar rockets kids on an out-of-this-world adventure that’s light years of faith-building fun.

    Participants should be entering PreK 4 programs (born BEFORE Sep 1st, 2020) and up to rising 5th graders. A special class of rising 6th graders is offered for church members where they will participate in projects and prepare to be volunteers next year.

    We request an optional $15 fee to cover the costs of t-shirts and lunch each day.

    Wesley Church at Frederica

    9am - 12pm daily

    Rising kindergarten through 5th grade.

    The Theme of Wesley's VBS is called "Breaker Rock Beach". Children will learn the Truth found in God's word and hope that this will be a time when they meet God while having fun!

    Currently, registration is only open for students who, by the end of theschool year, have completed Pre-K through 5th grade. Students who have completed 5th grade can participate in VBS as a junior leader.

    Elkin Alston Archaeology Camp at Fort Frederica

    June 17th-June 21st and June 24th-June 28th

    9am - 1pm daily

    Archaeology camp enables students to use the science of archaeology to learn more about the history of Fort Frederica. Activities include:

    • Learning archaeology basics
    • Excavating at the education dig site
    • Working in an archaeology lab to identify artifacts
    • Colonial life activities
    • Colonial crafts
    • Colonial games

    Beginning camp is for students who have completed 3rd-5th grade. Advanced camp is for students who have completed 4th-6th grade.

    Brunswick Summer Camps

    The Brick

    Full-time options: Monday thru Friday

    7:45am-4:30pm (with the option to extend hours until 6pm)

    Ages 5-12.

    The Brick's Summer Camps have been a part of this community since 2011. Their formula for camps is simple: a fun and fast-paced schedule plus a caring + family environment + expectations of good behavior + confidence-building activities = ONE AMAZING SUMMER EXPERIENCE!

    Every aspect of their camp day is designed to have kids play, meet new friends, socialize, sweat, and learn something new in a structured environment.

    YMCA of Coastal Georgia

    At Y Day Camp, your kids will make new friends and have tons of fun as they explore new adventures each day! Each week of camp features different themed activities, so your child will experience something new every week. All field trips and treat fees are included in camp tuition. 

    • Camp is Monday-Friday, 7am-6pm
    • Traditional camp weekly rates (ages 5-12): $170 members/$230 future members
    • Specialty camp weekly rates (ages 5-12): $225 members/$285 future members
    • Leader-in-Training camp weekly rates (ages 13-15): $60 members/$85 future members
    • There is an initial one-time $45 non-refundable registration fee.

    Golden Isles Gymnastics

    Monday - Friday

    Summer Camp at Golden Isles Gymnastics is the place to be! Each day is filled with plenty of activities to keep the kids engaged & active. The campers will run, jump, climb and play all of their energy away while making new friends and learning some cool gymnastics skills along the way! 

    • Monday thru Friday 7:30am-5:30pm for ages 4+.
    • Half days (7:30am-noon) and full days (7:30am-5:30pm) are offered.
    • Half days are $30; full days are $50; and it's $200 for the week.
    • Drop-off and pick-up times are flexible; drop your camper off anytime throughout the day!
    • Activities include open play (three trampolines, three foam pits, bars and beams, mats), obstacle courses, a game room, arts and crafts, and gym games.

    Salt AER Studios

    3-day sessions available in June and July

    Before 4/30: $50/day or $145/3 days

    After 4/30:
    $55/day or $150/3 days

    Summer Camp at Salt AER Studios is a uniquely fun experience where kids can breathe, create, strengthen, play, relax, and have fun!

    • Ages 5-12
    • Their camps are small accepting a maximum of 20 campers for each camp. Spots fill quickly so be sure to pre-register!

    Brunswick Kids Club

    • 7am-6:30pm Monday thru Friday.
    • Ages 5-12.
    • $165 per week/per child, with a $125 registration fee due at the time of sign-up to hold your child's spot.
    • The registration fee includes all field trips (2-3 per week) and a field trip t-shirt.
    • Breakfast, lunch, and a snack will be provided.
    • Outside of summer camp, Brunswick Kids Club also offers an after-school program for ages 5-12, an all-star cheer program for ages 6-15, and tumbling classes for ages 2-18.

    The Fellowship of Christian Athletes holds several camps throughout the summer. Their camps use an annual theme and scripture for athletes and coaches to develop athletic skills, create influential relationships, and encounter Jesus Christ.

    Robert Sapp Baseball & Softball Camps

    Ages 6-15

     

    The Robert Sapp Baseball Camp teaches baseball skills by experienced, high-energy high school coaches. Hit, Pitch, Run, Throw, Field. Fundamentals have always been the Robert Sapp Baseball Camp way. PLAY BALL!

    Mini Musical Theater Camp Show Choir Camp

     June 3rd-7th
    June 17th-21st

     

    Children will learn songs from multiple musicals and prepare a performance on the final day of camp. We will focus on vocals, acting, and stage presence, incorporating fun exercises and games. To top it off, they will work on creating costumes and props.

    SGHS Student Athletic Trainer Camp

    June 11-13

    This three-day, hands-on sports medicine camp, led by the Health System Sports Medicine team, is designed to introduce high school students to sports medicine, athletic training, and the many associated career opportunities. Training will include:

    • Injury treatment techniques
    • Athletic taping and bracing techniques
    • Hands-only CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED)
    • First aid

    No prior experience is necessary; students can practice their newly acquired skills to feel confident and ready to assist certified athletic trainers at their high school.

    SGHS Nurse Camp

    Providing students the opportunity to observe nurses' daily professional duties and responsibilities can be a valuable educational experience. This Summer, Southeast Georgia Health System, partnered with the College of Coastal Georgia, offers a unique four-day Nurse Camp experience, allowing students in grades 11 and 12 to shadow nurse staff, be introduced to clinical care in both simulation and real-life settings, and develop a better understanding of health care career opportunities. We provide a positive, safe learning environment where students are always under the direct visual supervision of a nurse faculty from the College of Coastal Georgia and hands-on nurses from Southeast Georgia Health System.

    Students who are rising sixth graders through high school are invited to learn about robotic programming during this 5-day camp.

    VSM Skate Camp

    • Dates: Available dates May through August
    • Time: 9am - 1pm (times are subject to change.)

    • What to bring: Skateboard, Helmet, Elbow Pads, Knee Pads, Wrist Guards, Closed-toed Shoes, Water Bottle.
    • Lunch is included.
    • All campers are required to wear VSM Skate Camp Shirt to every session. (Girls are encouraged to wear shorts that are fingertip length or longer, as well as no leggings.) Campers will all have matching shirts. The shirts will help camp staff easily identify all of our campers in any environment.

    Camp WannaStay is the annual children’s summer camp provided by Glyndale Baptist Church. Students in 3rd through 5th grade during the 2023/2024 school year are welcome to attend. Due to the age of our campers, we try to keep the camp experience short and close to home. Although we will only be a few miles away, plenty of fun and excitement will be packed into each day. Swimming, crafts, games, hiking, fishing, and friends will be on the agenda this year. And of course, Worship and Bible study are always a priority at Camp WannaStay! We will be partnering with Christian Renewal Church for this year’s camp.

    Brunswick Vacation Bible Schools

    First Baptist Church Brunswick

    June 17-21
    9am - Noon

     

    At this VBS, your kids will explore the biblical answers to these questions as they set off on an epic adventure from Genesis to Revelation. Amid sloths, butterflies, river dolphins, and dart frogs, your children will sail along on a fun jungle cruise, stopping at seven ports of call. These ports are the 7 C’s of History: Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion, Christ, Cross, and Consummation. Kids will discover how these events shape our world, and they will learn to reconnect the Bible to their everyday life.

    Prepare to swing into fun as we head out on The Great Jungle Journey!

    Think about the weirdest animals you know. What noise does an aardvark make? Is an axolotl really smiling? Are glass frogs made of real glass? Is a wombat a type of bat? It's wild that God helps each animal grow and thrive . . . and us, too! Wild Life is a 4-day adventure where kids discover how special they are to God and how wild it is that they can share their story, use their gifts, spend time with God, and spend time with others. Children must have completed Pre-K thru 5th Grade during the 2023-2024 school year to participate.

    Jekyll Island Summer Camps

    A reminder that any camps on Jekyll Island will require you to pay the daily fee to enter the island, which is currently $8 per day. If you're local, it's worth looking into an annual pass which is currently $75 for the year. You can find more information here.

    Three Oaks Farm

    Three Oaks Farm offers many children's camps where kids can immerse themselves in the atmosphere, learn to ride horseback, and enjoy everything Three Oaks Farm has to offer.

    • 9am-3pm (early drop-off and late pick-ups are available from 7am-6pm for an extra charge of $10/per hour)
    • $185/week or $55 per day ($65 on Fridays)

    VSM Surf Camp

    Available dates May through August
    9:30am - 12:30pm
    In Jacksonville

    • Price: $50 for the first camp, additional sessions are $35 each
    • Ages: 8+
    • Location: Huguenot State Park, Jacksonville, FL (transportation is not provided. Campers must also have a responsible adult present)
    • What to bring: Swimsuit, sunscreen, towel, water, snacks.
    • Swim attire: All campers must wear VSM Surf Camp Rash Guard to every session (girls are also recommended to wear board shorts over their normal swimsuits). Campers will all have matching rash guards, which will help camp staff easily identify all of our campers while in the water.
