$150GVA is thrilled to announce its first-ever St. Simons Island Wine Festival, a two-day gathering of art and wine enthusiasts to fundraise for the arts and education. This highly anticipated festival will take place from October 18-19, 2024, on picturesque St. Simons Island, one of four barrier islands nestled on the coast of Georgia collectively known as the Golden Isles and recently recognized as #1 Best Islands in the Continental U.S. by Travel + Leisure® for the second year in a row. All proceeds will benefit GVA and the College of Coastal Georgia’s Department of Hospitality, Tourism, and Culinary Arts.
“For over 70 years, Glynn Visual Arts has hosted events that promote learning, creativity, and a sense of community — and that is precisely what this wine festival is about,” said Kari Morris, Executive Director, GVA. “We can’t wait to demonstrate our mission, support important causes and enjoy delicious wines!”
The inaugural St. Simons Island Wine Festival will feature two days of events beginning with a VIP Wine Tasting & Auction on Friday, October 18 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the ballrooms of Official Lodging Partner, The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort. For the epicurious, premium and rare wines will be hand selected to pour during this walkabout, accompanied by an elevated charcuterie presentation featuring crudité, fine cheeses, fresh fruit and passed hors d’oeuvres, all beautifully curated by resort executive chef Thomas Cook. Patrons can expect live entertainment and a wine-centric silent auction. Each ticket holder will receive a commemorative wine glass.
The weekend’s main event promises to be the ultimate culmination of wine, art, and community. The Grand Tasting will be held on Saturday, October 19 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at The McKinnon-St. Simons Island Airport at the Posh Carts Hangar. Attendees will enjoy unique and exciting wines from over 25 vendors featuring labels from California, Oregon, France, Italy, South Africa, Argentina, Austria and Slovenia. This wine and art walkabout will feature live music by Rider, various art demonstrations and vendors, light bites from Rich’s and non-alcoholic drink options, and each ticket holder will receive a commemorative wine glass.
