Learn beginner sewing skills including how to use a sewing machine, fabric selection, and make 4 awesome projects! This class is best suited for all beginning sewers ages 7 to 14.

Kids Sewing Workshop: Sewing 101 is a 4-part series designed specifically for beginners; we help you learn to sew from step 1 — you can even bring your machine still in the box!

Prerequisite: None

Skills You’ll Learn: all the basics of your machine (you can even bring it still in the box!), accurate seams, backstitching, corners, curves, zippers, trim, linings, bias tape, installing handles, hand stitching, and finishing.

Cost: $215.

The class includes 8 hours of instruction. Students provide supplies for this course, supply requirements are listed on the supplies tab.

Course Description:

Class 1: We jump right in, teaching you how to thread your machine, wind a bobbin use the stitch selectors, and sew a straight line. You’ll even make a pillowcase to take home at the end of your very first class.

Class 2: Make a tote bag this week! Make a handy reversible tote bag while learning how to hide seams and sew a finished lining.

Class 3: Accessorize with a stylish mini wallet.  Learn to use interfacing and sew with small pieces of fabric, topstitch, and add a closure.

Class 4: It’s scrunchy mania these days.  Sew your own scrunchies with bows or no bows. Learn how to make a casing to insert elastic, and stitch it closed.
