Golf carts are a common way to get around St. Simons and Jekyll Islands. There are several rules you must follow (especially around roads you are and aren't allowed on), so make sure you review them before you rent.
Golden Isles Golf Cart Rules & Regulations
Note that you must follow several rules when renting a golf cart in the Golden Isles. A few of the notable ones are listed here:
- You must stay on the streets and cannot drive on sidewalks.
- Obey ALL rules of the road as well as all traffic signs and signals.
- Be courteous - don’t cause traffic jams and pull over when cars are behind you (locals will greatly appreciate this!).
- Do not drive golf carts on the beach.
- Note that some rental homes do not accommodate electric cart charging. Make sure to check in advance.
- All drivers must be at least 16 years of age and licensed.
- One passenger per seat.
- Child restraints and child safety seats are required.
- Certain carts should only be driven on roads with a speed limit of 25mph or less.

St. Simons Island Golf Cart Rentals
If visiting St. Simons Island, we recommend only renting a golf cart if you stay on the island's south end near the beaches. The only main road mid- to the north island is Frederica and it's very busy and not golf cart friendly.
