Resources for parents in the Golden Isles

Whether you're a new parent, new to the area, or just looking to beef up your local tribe, there are many groups and resources for parents in the Golden Isles.

We've rounded up the go-to accounts and websites we frequent as local moms when we need to make a connection or get the insider scoop. You should be able to find just about anything and everything you need, from a babysitter to baseball sign-up deadlines, here.

  • The local St. Simons Island and Brunswick chapter of the MOMS Club International is a national not-for-profit group that supports moms.
  • It is a great way to meet other local moms as they plan many meetups and activities.
  • If you have any questions or would like to join, please contact ssimomsclub@gmail.com.
  • A peer-to-peer FB page – you won't be overwhelmed with spam, sales, or offers.
  • Created for parents of school-aged kids on St. Simons Island (though you will find references to all areas of the Golden Isles here) to share activities, and events, ask questions, and get informal referrals.
  • Great for finding a local baby or pet sitter. Local high school and college students often offer services, and parents request short and long-term help.
  • Some coffee meetups have been organized amongst local moms on this page.
  • Quality content and engagement.
  • Local mom friends Debbie and Stephanie run the show behind Golden Isles Moms. (Debbie also runs the above-mentioned MOMS Club International, and Stephanie runs St. Simons Island Moms FB page)
  • The local chapter of the Local Moms Network
  • Provide information that helps parents get the most out of the Golden Isles with their kids.
  • Information on weekly events, local spotlights, business information, health & wellness, and recommendations.
  • Gals That Brunch is a global community movement made up of diverse women from all backgrounds who enjoy a good brunch, mimosas, and meeting new people.
  • Their mission is to create a positive, authentic, and empowering atmosphere where women can connect with each other and find a community within their city.
  • The local Golden Isles chapter meets monthly at different restaurants. Follow them on Facebook or visit their website to discover the next meet-up.
  • MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers, but they are now open to moms of all-aged children.
  • MOPS of the Golden Isles exists to encourage, equip and develop every mother and help her realize her true potential.  Check them out to connect with other local moms.
  • Community Bible Study (CBS) is an interdenominational Bible study.
  • CBS is a global ministry with Bible study classes that meet worldwide...including Brunswick, Georgia! Their women's class meets throughout the school year, taking a break during the summer.
  • Childcare is available for registered children of attending class members. Trained children’s leaders provide care and age-appropriate teaching for babies to school-aged children.
  • Elegant Island Magazine is a local, monthly lifestyle magazine devoted to the Golden Isles. Their Facebook page is an excellent resource for local events.
  • Coastal Georgia's premier lifestyle publication. Discover the people, places, fashion, and cuisine in Brunswick, St. Simons, Jekyll, and Sea Island.
  • Check their website, as it’s updated frequently, and follow them on IG for all things Golden Isles.  You can also subscribe to the magazine and deliver a hard copy to your house.
  • A must-follow in our book and hosted by Elegant Island Living, this Facebook page will connect you to the Golden Isles' live music scene.
  • Coverage of local venues, bands, and calendar of events.
  • Who else is just dying for a great Leslie Knope moment here?! (If you're unfamiliar with this Queen, please stream every last episode of Parks & Recreation).
    • Provides year-round recreational activities for all age groups. Be sure you sign up to receive notifications when recreational signups are - trust us; they are easy to miss otherwise.
    • Manages the beautification of our public parks, including the beaches of St. Simons Island and numerous facilities.
    • Information about all of our parks, facilities, and activities.
  • FREE story times, craft kits, classes, and special events. View their calendar to see when they hold weekly story times for children.
  • There are two libraries in the Golden Isles: one in Brunswick and one on St. Simons Island.
    • The St. Simons library is near the water, and they have several rocking chairs outside where you can sit and enjoy the view. It’s also next to Neptune Park, so we head to the playground after picking out our books.
    • The Brunswick library is located in downtown Brunswick and is within walking distance of many shops and restaurants.

Now, round up your new tribe and plan something fun to do in the beautiful Golden Isles!
