Moving to the Golden Isles for FLETC?
Are you relocating your family to the Golden Isles in response to a job at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC)? We understand that you may be stressed and have many unanswered questions (the government has a funny way of doing that to us, no?).
When my family and I moved here from San Diego in late 2019 due to my husband taking a job at FLETC, we knew very little about the area. Our kids were one and three at the time, and between selling our house in San Diego and buying a home here, we were under immense stress and were questioning whether we made the right decision in him taking a job here. I remember Googling the heck out of anything I could in an attempt to find resources specific to the area and FLETC:
- Where do people who work at FLETC live?
- How are the schools in the Golden Isles?
- What is there to do with kids in coastal Georgia?
- How am I going to meet people? Are there any mom or meetup groups?
I was grasping for any little bit of information and was disappointed that there weren't any resources specific to FLETC and moving here as a young family. I was looking for one place to give me the most information I was looking for, and it didn't yet exist.
Fast Forward a Few Years
We survived the move and have fallen in love with living here. We've met some incredible people, and our kids are thriving - It's also where St. SiMoms comes in.
Raising kids isn't easy (it's downright HARD), and we hope this site makes navigating the Golden Isles with your family a little easier - especially if you're new to the area or are planning to move here without knowing a soul.
